Research on Pelee Island

As of April 12th, 2021, the Township of Pelee requires that all special interest and research groups or individuals register their project, and the intended scope of the work with the municipality prior to the commencement of any work. Full resolution can be found below.

As such, we ask that all special interest and research groups or individuals register their project using the form below “Pelee Island Research Register“, and upon completion of the project, provide a summary of results and findings using the second form titled “Research Project Results“.

Resolution 2021-37 – Research Register

“BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the Township of Pelee hereby acknowledges that there is an increasing incidence of environmental research occurring on the island related to Species at Risk and other natural, biological studies.

AND WHEREAS the Council would like to ensure it is made aware of all potential projects and their benefit and impact to the community.  This action will ensure a co-ordinated approach to the effective management of all projects.

THEREFORE, the Council requires that all special interest and research groups or individuals register their project, the intended scope of the work with the Township of Pelee prior to the commencement of any work.

AND FURTHER, that a copy of this resolution be posted to the municipal website and on all social media feeds, as well as emailed to all environmental agencies currently working on the island.

Amended to include the requirement for current and existing studies to register their project, and the intended scope of the work with the Township of Pelee.”

This form is to be submitted annually if your research extends beyond one year.

Pelee Island Research Register

As per Resolution 2021-37, the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Pelee requires all special interest and research groups or individuals register their project, and the intended scope of the work with the Township of Pelee prior to the commencement of any work. As such, if you are planning to conduct research in the near future, or are currently conducting studies on Pelee Island, please fill out the below form to the best of your ability:
