Clerical Support

The Township of Pelee is accepting resumes for Clerical Support until August 22. The successful candidate will provide support and customer service in a professional and confidential manner working out of the Township of Pelee Municipal Office. This position requires a dedicated individual who is punctual, good at multi-tasking, has excellent customer service skills, self-motivated, and can follow direction well.
The successful candidate will preferably have completed their post-secondary education in a related field or have experience in a clerical position. Applicants should be proficient in the use of computers including Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn and navigate new software effectively and efficiently.
Specific duties may include:
- Providing excellent customer service by responding to public inquiries in person, by email and over the phone.
- Assisting with the 2022 Municipal Election as assigned by the Clerk.
- Assisting with processing and inputting Accounts Payable under direction from the Treasurer.
- Processing incoming payments of taxes, user fees, department revenue and other incoming payments.
- Assisting with data entry including pheasant hunts, marketing, and marina seasonals as directed by the Clerk.
- Assisting with daily bank reconciliation.
- Providing secretarial services including typing of tenders, forms, notices and reports as required.
- Maintaining confidential files and records relating to job responsibilities.
- Assisting with preparing grant applications upon request from the Clerk or Treasurer.
- Carrying out research projects as assigned by the Clerk or Treasurer.
- Assisting with annual audit as assigned by the Treasurer.
- Carrying out any other duties as assigned by the Clerk or Treasurer.

This position is 21 hours per week (3 days per week) commencing in September, with potential for a full-time position and opportunity for professional growth. Applicants must be located on Pelee Island to successfully fill this role.
