The Township of Pelee is seeking applications from experienced, qualified persons for the position of Operations Manager. Reporting to the Township Administrator & Clerk, and as a member of the Senior Management Team, the Operations Manager will have a thorough, practical knowledge of Public Works, including but not limited to facility, roads, water and waste management as well as financial management procedures. The Township offers a comprehensive extended health and dental plan, enrollment in the OMERS pension plan as well as flexible work options.
The successful candidate will direct and manage resources, will develop, manage and monitor the annual budget while ensuring compliance with all applicable Acts and Regulations including the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
The successful candidate will have working experience and knowledge in the development of asset management plans for government organizations including fleet management, work management programs, facilities and bridge management. The ability to build and sustain effective collaborative relationships with the public, government ministries, Public Works staff, members of Council and various other departments within the Corporation will be critical to this position.
The preferred candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Five years experience in a related senior municipal management position.
- Senior classification, CRS-S (Certified Road Supervisor) is preferred.
- Class DZ license, AZ preferred.
- Manager of Landfill Operations Certificate or equivalent demonstrated working experience preferred.
- Drinking Water Class 1 Operator certification an asset.
- Certified Engineering Technologist or equivalent college level business diploma an asset.
- Strong organizational and management skills in personnel, finance, material and information.
- Excellent interpersonal, project/time management, organizational, analytical, communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to apply supervision, leadership and guidance as well as to focus attention on strategic priorities.
- Strong Computer Skills

Reporting to the Township Administrator & Clerk, the Deputy Treasurer / Deputy Clerk will have working experience and knowledge of municipal government and experience in an administrative setting with a finance background preferred. The Township offers a comprehensive extended health and dental plan, enrollment in the OMERS pension plan as well as flexible work options.
The successful candidate will assist with performing the statutory duties of both the Clerk and Treasurer as set forth in the applicable provincial legislation.
The ability to build and sustain effective collaborative relationships with the public, government ministries, members of Council and municipal staff within the Corporation will be critical to this position.
The preferred candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Public Administration, Business Commerce, Information Management, Business Administration, Accounting or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience providing administrative and/or finance related support.
- Demonstrated experience developing, analyzing and reviewing policies.
- Knowledge of the Municipal Act, Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and other applicable legislation, including legislation and policy affecting municipal finance.
- Knowledge of financial, accounting, auditing principles and practices, investment and debt management, property taxation, budgeting, asset management and procurement.
- Discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters with tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to use critical thinking and problem solving to evaluate problems to identify best possible solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience with various audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal, project/time management, organizational, analytical, communication and presentation skills.
- Detail oriented and well organized with the ability to multitask and meet numerous deadlines.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to use online software such as Zoom and MS Teams.

The successful candidate will assist with daily general maintenance duties within the Parks and Recreations Department, including their faciltiies in order to ensure that clean, safe, and healthy facilities and grounds are available for the public. The Maintenance & General Labourer will assist in other departments within Public Works as well as the municipal campground and marina as required.

- Class G Drivers license, DZ licence as asset.

This Marina Supervisor will ensure the safe and efficient handling of boats, oversees property and dock maintenance, implement property improvement projects, and manage seasonal tasks such as opening and closing duties.
