Administrative Assistant

Administrative Assistant (full-time)

The Township of Pelee is accepting resumes for Administrative Assistant until March 1, 2023. The successful candidate will provide support and customer service in a professional and confidential manner working out of the Township of Pelee Municipal Office. This position requires a dedicated individual who is punctual, good at multi-tasking, has excellent customer service skills, self-motivated, and can follow direction well.

The successful candidate will preferably have completed their post-secondary education in a related field or have experience in a clerical position.  Applicants should be proficient in the use of computers including Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn and navigate new software effectively and efficiently.

Specific duties may include:

  • Providing excellent customer service by responding to public inquiries in person, by email and over the phone.
  • Assisting with processing and inputting Accounts Payable under direction from the Treasurer;
  • Processing incoming payments of taxes, user fees, department revenue and other incoming payments;
  • Assisting with data entry including pheasant hunts, marketing, and marina seasonals as directed by the Clerk;
  • Assisting with daily bank reconciliation;
  • Providing secretarial services including typing of tenders, forms, notices and reports as required.
  • Maintaining confidential files and records relating to job responsibilities;
  • Assisting with preparing grant applications upon request from the Clerk or Treasurer;
  • Carrying out research projects as assigned by the Clerk or Treasurer;
  • Assisting with annual audit as assigned by the Treasurer; and
  • Carrying out any other duties as assigned by the Clerk or Treasurer.

This position is full-time, 35 hours per week, commencing in April, with opportunity for professional growth. Applicants must be located on Pelee Island to successfully fill this role.

East Park Campground Supervisor

East Park Campground Supervisor

The Township of Pelee is accepting resumes for Campground Supervisor until March 1, 2023. The East Park Campground Supervisor is primarily responsible for the campground facilities to ensure efficient and profitable operations, and maximize the potential of the municipal asset.

The successful candidate will work onsite at East Park Campground with duties ranging from outdoor work to office assignments.

Specific duties may include:

  • Ordering campground supplies and concession items within the approved departmental budget;
  • Responsible for the supervision of campground attendant(s);
  • Providing needed training and mentoring summer student campground attendant(s);
  • Providing scheduling and necessary planning for all campground staff;
  • Assisting with building and ground maintenance around the campground facilities including landscaping, painting, and janitorial duties;
  • Administrative duties including concession sales, as well as, balancing daily cash transactions;
  • Stocking and organizing inventory within the small store;
  • Assisting campers and tourists through the provision of on-site information, as well as, over the phone and by email;
  • Utilizing the online booking system to assist with booking cancellations and changes;
  • Potential to assist with campground operational and capital budget priorities, needs, and planning alongside the municipal Treasurer; and
  • Assisting with campground capital projects as directed by the Clerk.

The East Park Campground Supervisor will be expected to interact with the public, other island businesses, and tourists as the campground is an important tourist information centre for Pelee Island. The successful candidate will communicate appropriately and professionally with the public and assist tourists with information about the island, as a tourism destination, along with the above specified duties.

This is a seasonal full-time position ranging from 28-40 hours per week, hours may vary depending on demand. Applicants must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays, starting in April through early November. Applicants must be located, or willing to relocate to Pelee Island for the duration of this position to successfully fill this role.

Applicants must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays, May through early September with potential opportunities for fall hours. The Township of Pelee is accepting resumes for Marina Supervisor until March 1, 2023. The Scudder Marina Supervisor is primarily responsible for the operation of the marina facilities to ensure efficient and profitable operations, and maximize the potential of the municipal asset.

The successful candidate will work onsite at Scudder Marina with duties ranging from outdoor work to office assignments.

Specific duties may include:

  • Ordering marina supplies and concession items within the approved departmental budget;
  • Responsible for the supervision of marina attendants;

  • Potential to assist with marina operational and capital budget priorities, needs, and planning alongside the municipal Treasurer; and
  • Assisting with marina capital projects as directed by the Clerk.
