Pump House Operator
Casual Position
Rate: $17.75/hr
Pump House operations are an integral part of the Township of Pelee’s flood prevention measures. Operators of our pump houses play a key role in ensuring that excess water can be diverted away from flood-prone areas and improve drainage island-wide.
The Township of Pelee is seeking applications for the position of Pump House Operator. Reporting to the Environmental Services Lead / Pump House Commissioner, preferred candidates will have a working knowledge of diesel pump motors and ability to perform needed site maintenance including clearing grates of debris and maintaining a safe work site.
Successful candidates will monitor instruments, gauges, and meters in order to detect and report any possible problems with pumps. They will be required to conduct regular preventative maintenance on pump motors and report any mechanical or safety issues to the Environmental Services Lead / Pump House Commissioner.
The position of Pump House Operator is a casual position based on need, with flexible hours and potential for evenings, weekends, nights, and holiday call-ins.
