Equipment Operator / General Labourer
Salary: $52,000 – $62,400

The Township of Pelee is seeking applications from qualified persons for the position of Equipment Operator / General Labourer. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Equipment Operator / General Labourer will have knowledge in a variety of basic building and trades maintenance. Experience operating large equipment an asset.
The successful candidate will assist with daily general maintenance duties in all departments within Public Works as well as the municipal campground and marina as required. Regular duties will include maintenance duties within Parks and Recreations and Roads, as well as assisting at the Transfer Station, Water Plant and other municipal facilities when required.
The preferred candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Class G Drivers license, DZ licence as asset
- Strong organizational and time management skill
- General knowledge and work experience in a variety of basic building and trades maintenance
- Knowledge and experience operating heavy equipment including but not limited to excavator, grader, dump truck
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds
- Ability to work both independently as well as in a team setting
- Chainsaw certification, an asset

Pump House Operator
Casual Position
Rate: $17.75/hr
Pump House operations are an integral part of the Township of Pelee’s flood prevention measures. Operators of our pump houses play a key role in ensuring that excess water can be diverted away from flood-prone areas and improve drainage island-wide.
The Township of Pelee is seeking applications for the position of Pump House Operator. Reporting to the Environmental Services Lead / Pump House Commissioner, preferred candidates will have a working knowledge of diesel pump motors and ability to perform needed site maintenance including clearing grates of debris and maintaining a safe work site.
Successful candidates will monitor instruments, gauges, and meters in order to detect and report any possible problems with pumps. They will be required to conduct regular preventative maintenance on pump motors and report any mechanical or safety issues to the Environmental Services Lead / Pump House Commissioner.
The position of Pump House Operator is a casual position based on need, with flexible hours and potential for evenings, weekends, nights, and holiday call-ins.
