Fall weather on Pelee Island can range from around 5-16 degrees Celsius, or 40-60 degrees Fahrenheit. Be prepared for anything from warm sunny days to the chance of cold, windy and rainy weather.
Pelee offers a number of other hunting and fishing opportunities like turkey hunting in the spring, duck hunting in the fall, and access to Lake Erie fishing off the shores of Pelee to name just a few!
This year, main hunt licences cost $337.31, cleanup hunts are $168.65. Licences are one sale from February 3, 2025 to April 1, 2025 for main hunts. Clean up hunt licences will be on sale February 3, 2025 to November 28, 2025 at 4:00 p.m.
To hunt pheasants on Pelee Island you must have a municipal pheasant licence, your Ontario Small Games Licence as well as an Ontario Outdoors Card – along with carrying proof of your firearms accreditation under the Firearms Act (Canada).
Visit Getting your Outdoors Card or Ontario Hunting Regulations for further information.
As the hunts occur outside of the island’s main tourist season, some businesses are already closed when the Pheasant Hunts occur. However, there are still a number of places open to visit! These often include places like the Westview Tavern, The Dog and Goat, Co-op (gas & groceries), as well as many accommodations options.
Though a hunting dog is not required for this hunt, many hunters choose to utilize hunting dogs on Pelee Island, as they may enrich the hunting experience and allow for birds to be easily flushed compared to hunting without a helpful companion.
