Pelee Art Works
Pelee Art Works was established in 1995 to create a center for arts and culture on Pelee Island. Housed in a historic building, this community initiative mirrors the thriving and resourceful spirit of the Island community.
Pelee Art Works features the work of many local artists, photographers, potters, weavers, woodworkers, authors, jewellers, candle makers, crafters, and more.
At Pelee Art Works you can discover unique art, gift items and folksy crafts, purchasing one-of-a-kind hand made gifts that support local Island artisans. During our May – October season, you can sign up for an endless variety of art workshops taught by our artisans. The Art Works has a summer crafts program for children aged 4-12, a drop in Make-and-Take class, and offers private workshops or craft classes for children’s birthday parties.
Artisans in residence can often be found displaying their craft; potters love to drop in and give spontaneous demonstrations, and our resident weaver is often present making use of the Art Works loom. Come in, snuggle up on our couch in front of an antique wood stove and browse through our collection of old books, or wander through the herb garden donated to us by a generous volunteer and benefactor in 2001.
